Considering LS1 turbo install - pointers?
I want to install a turbo on my 99 T/A. I searched this forum and came up with more information I could possibly read in two days. Great site by the way!
But I figure it would be easier if a few of you pointed me in the right direction. All I have heard of is the STS turbo kit. I want the best bang for the buck - I want a good deal, who doesn't?
Any pointers?

Do you have an idea of what kit you'll be getting? The STS is a rear mount setup. Depending on which kit you go with and your mechanical ability I say go for it. Do you have a tuner nearby? Someone to help here and there would be good too. An extra set of hands can come in handy.

I am actually looking for 400 RWHP - not too greedy here. I know the STS is a rear mount setup and is a pretty simple install from what I hear. Not to mention it is the cheapest setup I have found. I would like to spend as little as possible and still have a low boost reliable setup.

If you are really only after 400rwhp and don't care to go higher then you're spending your money on the wrong stuff. Find a used cam on this board for about $300 get the gaskets and hardware $35, do the cam swap and you'll be sitting at a safe 400+rwhp setup easily. You are much more limited by going this route but maybe you don't care.

right here is everything that you need to make around or more than 400 RWHP
it made 475 on my car with the stock engine and 6 pounds of boost, ran great for around 9500 miles till I got greedy with the boost
on the spring with the kit and no boost controler it made right at 5 psi and just over 400 RWHP
it runs and drives great
