I really like the look of the export style taillights. I have no idea where to get them though, I have tried a couple of sponsors sites with no luck. I figured it would be easier to ask.

Save up a grand and then hit ebay.
There are folks here with contacts in Japan getting them from salvage yards so they can auction them in the US.
Good luck

they're extremely hard to find... not even the JDM parts dealers have them.

I have a spare drivers side. You'd be halfway there.

How hard are they to get in Japan, my father is over there on business right now? Does it take diplomatic immunity or something crazy to get a set? I have taillight covers now and was looking to change to something different, but wouldn't think of putting clear tails on my car (clear corners maybe).

I imagine that if you had a picture and were in Japan you could find some at wrecking yards..

I paid $250 for mine.. best investment ive ever made.. wish I would have bought all 7 sets the guy had..

As an alternative, I don't know if you'd want to go this route, but I'll throw it out there as an option. I went with the 93-97 tail lights. Rids the car of that amber color, and follows the lines of the hatch and rear panel.

Just a thought

Ebay is your best bet. There aren't any on now, but just do a search for "Camaro Export" every once in a while.

They are the ones in Xsta Z 28s sig. Notice they have the amber on the outside then red then white. By the way guys, do any of you have a part number for this taillight assembly? I know someone said GM doesn't make them any more, but they still have to have a part number.

I was thinking. I know the plastics industry a bit and I was wondering. To make some tail lights you need a mold and a company who will make them. Molds can come out really, really expensive so the product would have to be great and expensive. We could either make the same ones or make a better design. Remember the more products made the cheaper the part. Or you could always buy the mold or technique the other company is using to make these. Or steal it.

As far as price goes... well that goes back to the market mechanism. Vertical supply line + huge demand = Crazy high price. GM stopped making them because it was cheaper to stick with one style light for the change to amber.

They came on the 1993 to 1997 Camaros that were exported to Japan. In 93 to 97 Cmaros were built by GM with ALL red tail lights. Japan required amber turn signals - so there were two kinds of tail lights. in 1998 GM redesigned the Camaro tail light to what is on your car, so the Japan specific lenses were no longer required. GM has thus stopped making them so the lights are in high demand for uniqueness. A pair sells for $600 tp $1,000.
