Default 2000 Trans Am Speed Signal Lead?

Do 2000 Trans Ams have a speed signal lead? Attempting to install my JVC KD-NX5000 (well it's installed) I'm just trying to get the navigation system running and don't know if the car has a one of these leads! If not then I can't use the navi system (unless I want to spend $300 on JVCs speed sensing equipment.)

Ok maybe I was thinking of something else, but where is the speed signal lead that goes to our speedometer or trans or whatever? Anyone have a wiring diagram to help me out?

Did you get it installed? Where exactly is this wire? Its the:

21 PPL/WHT 821 Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Signal

Correct? Im looking at buying this unit myself for my 2000 firebird. Any pics would be appreciated too

I just got this unit installed at Mickey Shore, they gave me a great deal........loving the unit so far. One question though, did you hook up the steering wheel controls?

How hard it is to do and what adapter do I need? Thats the only thing I want to do, I forgot to have them do it when they installed it

On a Z28 it's really easy to find - it's in the stereo harness. It's the dark green with white wire in the 10-pin white connector.

Firebirds don't have speed controlled volume like Camaros so they don't have the VSS wire in the stereo harness - that's why it's harder to find it in a Firebird.

I am getting ready to buy the JVC KD-NX5000 for my 99 Z28.

Does anyone have feedback on this unit? Any input would be very welcome.

Does this unit have the "Speed-Compensated Volume" feature? Evidently I'm the only one in the world who cares about this according to the stereo guys. (I actually use it all the time and love it, especially while the tops are off)

The VSS signal wire is the same dark green/white color and is in position B8 of the 34-pin cluster connector. However, you don't really need it for navigation - just if you have automatic speed sensitive volume. The Kenwood (Garmin) navigation system uses the VSS to provide greater accuracy in estimated position when GPS satellite signal is unavailable such as when going through a tunnel. But it's still very good at estimating even without that speed signal so unless you spend a lot of time driving where there's no GPS signal, you don't really need it. I never connected it with my Kenwood head unit and I never had any problem with accuracy.
