In my old car (95 Saturn, 200k miles), it would always be bouncing off the red, coming back down when the fan turned on. But sometimes I would turn on the heater full blast, aim it to my feet, and roll down the windows (so I didn't get too hot) and the temp stayed around the middle. If it gets that bad, you could do this.

It might make more sense to get something for it though.. Like a remote fan switch, or 160* temp sensor (I can't remember the exact term).

Hopefully someone has better advice than me though, haha. Good luck

You could simply tune your fans to pop on earlier if you wanted I think.

Did that for mine when I had it in the shop plugged into the computer.

I figured 190-205 was more of the norm.

Thats what I expected and about what I am getting... I was just wondering if there was a cheaper way to cool down the motor than upgrading my water pump...

There is really no need to unless u are running really hot...ls1's are a hot running motor...that's just how they are, but if u want to cool it, get a diff fan switch to kick on at lower temps, and get a diff thermostat...they have 160 or 185 degree thermostats instead of the 195...hope that helps.

program the fans to run lower, and a 180 degree stat.

98's are the only year with a "working" temp gauge.
