if i get a custom kit made for my 96 WS6, where do i have the flange for the BOV welded on? does it go right in front of the turbo? Or right behind the turbo? Ive read A LOT about what it does but nothing mentions where it goes. Waste gate is a little confusing as well but if i go with a turbo that uses a built in waste gate then its taken care of. Any advice/info helps!!!

BOV goes in the intake track between intercooler and throttle body. once the throttle blades close, the engine pulls a vacuum and opens the BOV releasing all the boosted air charge into the atmosphere. put it where the most space is available.

internal wastegates are nice and economical for factory turbo setups because they are cheap. but they can also be known to allow boost creep (not good). external will allow much better control and seal. they can be vented into the downpipe (exhaust) or vented into the atmosphere.
plus using an internal wastegate, will require a special flange on the downpipe to "fit around" the internal wastegate opening. more money. this is internal wastegate (factory type on turbo buicks)...

As long as it is before the MAF sensor on non SD tunes. I have mine between the head unit and intercooler. No point in heating up the intercooler with unused compressed air

^ wow thanks guys very helpful! Im sure wherever i decide to have it done, theyll know where it goes lol or i had better find a different shop!! But i like to understand everything to my fullest ability. I understand about the boost creep. My brother had an eclipse GSX, fun car, but bwtween the boos creep and the monthly detenation, it only lasted 80,000 miles. And it was bone stock! You guys are very helpful, have you seen my other posts?lol

i prefer to have the valve before the i/c, so i can bleed some of the warm air off the i/c and keep it a little cooler for when it needs to do its thing

Doesn't it need to be as close to the TB as possible as long as it is before the MAF? I'd think that one that far downstream that is between the turbo and the IC would be a little inefficient and may not act in time? But I could be wrong

There is no reason that it has to be close to the TB. I think many people locate it there for the visual affect, 'Cool, look there is a BOV'.

I Strongly Recommend Putting The Blow Off Valve On The Intake Pipe. A Few Reasons Are (1) Bending Your Throttle Blade As The Throttle Closes. (2) The Most Important Is Blowing Your Intercooler Up. I Saw It Happen The Bov Did Not Open And Then Went The Cooler.

Great point. I hadn't finalized my BOV (TurboSmart Megasonic) location but what you stated here is good consideration for it.
