Default How fast can i go before shift?

Hello,

I just recently purchased a 01 ws6. I threw a lid on there and other than that it
is completely stock. I was just wondering how fast I can go in each gear with no mods. I would just go out and test it, but im kinda waiting to open her up untill i get a little more used to the car.Anyone know the max?

thanks.

1st = 0mph-approx 40mph
2nd = 40mph-65/70mph
3rd = 65/70mph - 100/105 mph
4th = 100/105 mph - 135ish
5th = 135ish - light speed
6th = useless

I think I shift from 3-4 at just after 80 mph.

Looking at that graph I laughed -- 45-50 mph in first! I don't know what speed i shift, only RPM.

If I have it floored, I don't bother to watch my speedometer... But I know when I get into 2nd I am around 50, when I get into 3rd I am around 70 and when I get into 4th I am around 105....

My best advice would be to not worry about your speed when you have the pedal down... watch the road.

Is this true? 5th can take you to 181@6000rpm?

Suggesting no speed gov, modified car (performance wise, not external body changes), yet stock gears. I'm guessing aerodynamics wouldn't let you, unless it was on a big hill. But I honestly have no idea, I'm just curious..

im betting it will take you there easy with a modded car. I think that stock f bodys are capable of the 165-170 mph barrier. with speed limiter removed.

165 is about it for a stock f-body. I've done it a few times, in my old A4 no less. Still have yet to let the M6 stretch it's long legs.

i did 90+ in second gear once years ago. Mind you I bent a valve or two and had very few straight push rods left, but i did it, and the car didn't like it. Just an FYI.

Mental note don't stick it in 2nd instead of 4th while racing
