Everyone,

I just recently bought kook's long tube header, however, I was looking back over the site and I think that I need connection pipes with the headers.. is this true? It was saying, "Metallic Cats, Must be used with Kooks Headers." Like you all already know I'm new with the performance car world.... metallic cats... what is that? so do I need to buy another part to make the headers work with the borla exhaust system?

Ok, let me see if I got this right. You have a 2004 GTO with a Borla cat back exhaust system. You recently bought Kooks long tube headers, but haven't install them yet. You want to know if you need anything else to complete the install, right?

Yes, you need the Kooks mid pipes that go from the headers to the cat back flange. You have two options, race mid pipes (no cats) or mid pipes with high flow 3" cats.

The mettalic cats handle rich and lean fuel trims better than the ceramic. The mettalic cats also flow much better and can retain the HP over stock type cats.

Like everyone else said you are going to need the mid pipes. You can buy them from a vendor of if there is an exhaust shop that you like they can fabricate a set for you.

Everyone,

Thanks for the advice. lol see I'm a newbie with this sport. I just bought some headers and thought you could hook them right to the exhaust. so I'm buying the midpipes with cats now.. after I got the mid pipes will there be a problem hooking them up to the Borla exhaust? Thanks again.. you guys set my mind at ease!!

The Kooks mid pipes should bolt right up to the Borla cat back, no problem. When you get the headers and mid pipes on, check the tips to make sure they are still centered in the cutout opening and not touching the plastic fascia. If not, you might have to loosen the cat back clamps and adjust it a little.
