Buy the Camaro!... The GTO's are much easier to work on. Plus the 06 comes with the LS2.... But, modifing the drivetrain is stupid expensive!... I paid $660 dollars for a ring and pinion! Can only get diff parts from Australia!....Plus the Camaro is lighter and has a solid rear axle....

Well i would have to say if your looking for something that is AWSOME on the streets and will ride good; get the GTO. I had an 06 for about 6 mon. and i enjoyed the hell out of it. I raced an 04 GTO that has nitrous and a little cam with a tune and it's about the same at the track.... time wise. He runs low 1.50's 60ft. and has had absoutly no issues with the cv axles.

I had a Camaro..sold it to get the GTO...but now I'm back in the Camaro
I loved the GTO, VERY nice interior...rode very smooth and as you can see from my signature just as quick as the Camaros.
But in the end, I liked T-tops better And the GTO just wasn't aggressive looking, IMO.

As has already been mentioned, it depends on what you want to do with the car. As far as ride quality goes, the GTO is the best driving four passenger GM car I have driven.
Here is a GTO that runs in the 11.4 1/4 range and still gets great gas mileage. Bob

Believe me, same power at the wheels, the fbody, or c5, walks all over the goat. In our group of cars we have fbodies, c5, gto. Examples of each in a4, m6, etc etc....with power all over the map. The goats were the priciest to mod and still are the slowest of all. However....
11-12 second 450-500whp goats are still fast. The goat guys, me included, dont regret that fact for a second. This car wasn't built to be a strip monster. Now, lets set these cars up for road racing and all bets are off.
It's all in what you feel comfortable with. These cars are a fantastic jack of all trades.
