Default A3 stall?

Im working on a 99 z28. Cam only, a3 w/brake, 4.30 gears 28 tire and gas. What stall would be best, shift at 6800-6900rpm. I would like to leave on 150 shot, maybe 200 shot and run a total of maybe 300 or so with a second stage. Also would this setup work for the 1/4? I keep getting mixed anwsers on if it will run out of rpm for the 1/4. The car is being built for mostly 1/8 mile and some 1/4mile.

28" tire + 4.30 gear + A3 + shift at 6800 + 300 shot sounds like it won't work. That would be too much gear.

Thats what Im thinking. Would 4.10's work or do I need to go with 3.90's.

Let's get a little more background info first......

What raceweight?
How fast do you think you will be on motor?
How fast do you want the car to go on a 300 shot?

raceweight is 3650 but should be 3100-3300 really soon
On motor high 10's
on gas mid to high 9's

My Camaro (in sig) is 3300 with me, 4.10 gears, 28x10.5's, Fuddle 8", 150 shot NX wet, shifting at 6800.

Went 10.92 NA, and 10.00 on a 150 shot back to back yesterday. I don't think you will get away with 4.30's, and I could not spray anymore on top of the 150 unless I either went with a tighter converter or down to a 3.70 gear. With a 3.70 gear I could spray 250 and run mid 9's.

Thanks that helps alot. Whats your stall speed? Here we race way more 1/8 vs 1/4 so the 1/8 mile time is more important but it would be a big plus to be able to make through the 1/4. Do you think 3.90's on a 300 shot would make through the 1/4?
Now knowing this is more for a 1/8 car what do recommend? Should I just give up on 1/4?

If you run out of rpm you can always run a taller tire.

It's like a 4800 stall. I would not run more than a 3.90 gear if you want to finish the 1/4 on 28's.

2" taller tire "in theory" would be about 10 more mph at the same rpm.

30's look kinda crazy on our cars, you have to cut the sheet metal unless you are minitubbed.

I made about the same power on motor thru the T400 FWIW. You can run the 4.10's and probably go 135-138mph before you run out of gear. I went almost 134mph and I might have gone a bit faster if I had shifted a little lower but didn't have time to mess around.

With my turbo car I am going 144mph with 3.50's and 28's, with room to spare, I could go 165mph potentially with the 3.50's assuming 7100 rpms.

I think I have a set of 3.90's laying around the shop. I will try those first since I don't have 4.10's. Do you thinks the 4.10's would help it more in the 1/8? I could probly spin the car to 7,000 if I had to to make through the 1/4.

4.10's would work a little better than 3.90 for when you are on motor, but at some point you have to pick n20 performance over motor performance. Personally I have two cars that are quick so I want the Camaro to run mid to low 10's on motor for a while. But I'll keep spray on the car.

I would rather it run better on the bottle over motor hands down in this car.

For a 300 shot I'd run 3.70's or 3.90's.

I'd probably try the 3.90's if I had 'em lying around.
