Houston SuperFeast 2007
If anybody here doesn't have any family or friends to be with on Thanksgiving come and join me at the Houston SuperFeast. It's a great way to spend Thanksgiving and helping some people that are less fortunate. You can work for as long or as little as you'd like, and if you've got children they are welcomed as well. Volunteers are needed to help setup tables and chairs, prepare food, serve food, help some of the handicapped and elderly through the serving line, find them a place to sit, get them a drink, and clean up when they leave. I've done this on Thanksgiving for the last 2 years and it's much more enjoyable than sitting at home by myself.
If you want to help volunteer it's real simple. The event is held right outside of Houston City Hall (900 Smith, between McKinney and Walker). Volunteers start showing up at 4:30 AM and are needed through about 5 PM, but you can show up whenever you want, and leave whenever you want. There is a volunteer sign-up booth on the side of city hall where you sign-up, get your hat, and then you can get to work. You can either ask to be assigned to a certain task, or you can do whatever needs to be done.
I hope to see some of ya'll out there!!!

Ben,
You are a good role model for young folks your age; I think this at least your third year in a row to feed the less fortunate. If I wasn't going out of town I would love to join you in order to show my 5yr old how good it is to help others and also how fortunate we are. You are commended !!!

Ben,
You and I have never met, but I want to stop and say thank you for helping those less fortunate.
My mother has tried to instill that virture into us kids by somehow or another having a friend or a friend of a friend over for Thanksgiving. For many, many years now she has had someone over to enjoy the day with our Family. I cannot remember the last time we did not have a stranger in the house for our Thanksgiving or Christmas meal.
This year she is in the Hospital and we'll be taking her and others on her floor a special meal and treat tomorrow.
It is so good to see that there are good folks out there!
Good Job young man!
Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks Zac. And yes, this is my 3rd year to do this.
If anybody makes it out there tomorrow I'll be the volunteer in jeans and an Oakley Hoodie/NRC T-Shirt.
Hope to see you tomorrow Franco!

Just got back from the SuperFeast and it was another great year. There were a ton of volunteers and a lot of people that came to enjoy the food.
All of the volunteers grouped together for the meeting just before they started serving food.
The band area. At one point they had a death metal band up there. WTF.
The news people were out in full effect.
Politicians trying to win some votes.
News guy figuring out who to interview.
I spotted this guy checking all of the garbage boxes for things he could take with him.
I haven't eaten all day and my feet are hurting so its time to prop up and watch some TV!
