ok im looking to buy a engine of a 2003 yukon i looked around and theres a 4.8, 5.3(l59) 6.0(lq4) but how can i tell what engine it is i looked on the net and they look like same. thanks in advance...

the stamp is gonna say its a lq4 or l59???

on the back of the block it will say the litters.

thanks it says 4.8 5.3??? but aint the block the same as the 6.0 just the bore is smaller..

Well It's definately not a 6.0. The 4.8 that I pulled outta my truck was stamped 4.8 5.3 behind the flexplate. My 6.0 that went into my truck just said 6.0. I don't know how to differentiate the 4.8 and 5.3 though. It's possible that the heads are different between the two. Find the casting number on the front of the driver's side head and the rear passenger side. Should be 3 digits long. Try searching around the internet for that casting number and see what you find.
