Ws6 Hoods
Hey guys I have had my car now for a couple months. Its a 2000 WS6. My hood seems to be different with the air coming in from the nostrils then flowing up in the hood and coming out on top of where the lid would be.
I was looking at some pics and maybe its a 98 hood??
Is the 98 hoods different then the 2000 hoods??
I will try to get some pics to post. I looked all over the hood and could not find any markings/numbers..but it looks like a stock hood. Thanks.

Thanks
Phoenix-thanks I will have to look to see.
SOM02WS6-from what I was told not all Ws6s came with the perfomance 3.23gears. I have the invoice/sales reciept from my car from the original buyer and I guess he did not order the performance axle, it is a WS6 car tho.

Yep that is what it is
Phoenix 5.7-That is the hood! Thanks. Now I need to figure out if that air kit they sell is better than the FIPK I have on there now, which I really don't care for.

There is NO WAY that you have a factory A4 WS6 with 2.73 gears stock, unless GM messed up on the assembly line. But even if there was a mistake and they installed the wrong gears, your SPID sticker should still show GU5 for 3.23s since it was required. There is no way you could order a WS6 car with 2.73s (GU2)
GU5 was a required option for any WS6 with the M30 & MX0 (auto trans) RPOs.
Also, the way you describe your hood, it's NOT a factory WS6 hood. Your car appears to be a clone.

this is what the ws6 hood looks like. it shuld have the small lip around the opening,
but the best way to tell is like mentiond ubove, cheak the rpo coads on the door, if it doesnt have ws6 in there its not a true ws6.

Door Codes
Stayed up too 3:46am to decode the numbers on the door, and you guys are right its a WS9-Y82, no WS6. That explains the hood and the 2.73s. Guy I bought it from was the original owner but never mentioned anything about the aftermarket hood or the WS6 badge he put on the back, but he never came out and said it was a WS6 either. I really don't car since I have the hood and all the other mods he did do the car were expensive like the hood, wheels, exhaust etc. I just wanted to clear the hood issue up. As others say a LS1 is a LS1..now to beat my friends vette...I need a converter!

That's pathetic considering M6's have done that stock. Not to mention that I have gotten 2.0's before while in stock trim on my 3.23's. Now he has added a 100 shot and he can now get a 1.7 60' when he sprays right out of the hole.
But look at my sig. I get better 60's with 3.23's, far less power and just a slightly bigger stall. Those 2.73's are really holding back his 60' IMO. 2.73's rock on the street with a good stall but they still suck at the strip.
Just my personal observations.

Gears
I was planning on getting a 3600 stall converter and then keeping the 2.73s for gas mileage since I do highway driving, but depending on what I can pull at the track I might have to swap them out and then I plan on going with 2 series-3.42 gears-so this way I just need to switch the gears not the whole carrier.

Do you guys think I should remove the PONTIAC on the front window?
