sick of misconceptions
okay maybe this is just me or maybe i just keep meeting the wrong people.
a couple of motnhs ago i was out of state towards the north and i ran across some intresting people there. they were in college but seriousy they were so dumb. when we started talking i saw just how ignorant people are of our great state. they proceded to ask me where my boots and cowboy hat were, whether or not places had areas to park my horse, how i knew what tivo and the internet were, and whether or not i think farming is hard.
now i cant speak for everyone in our state but i have only seen a farm on a road trip, road a horse once, and as you can see i do know what the internet is. i just cant stand when people think we are all a bunch of hillbillies.

True , I lived in Cali for 4 years and I seriously saw more people with cowboy hats and farming out there then I did here. I lived in the valley near Fresno. Anytime somebody F**Ks with you about being from Texas just tell them everyone knows what state has the most beautiful women! I have been all over the world and Texas has the most beautiful women God Bless Texas! Austrailia comes in close 2nd.

Wasnt it Sam Houston who said " Texas can survive without the United States but the United States cannot survive without Texas"
Isnt the Texas flag the only flag that can fly as high as the US flag.

Yes, I have run across this myself. I was in Wisconsin and a group of people I went out to dinner with were shocked that I was from Texas. They asked me if I was born there and if so, why didn't I talk with a "Texas drawl" ?? And then asked if I could "turn it on" for them ? WTF ?

This thread made me think of the Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" commercials. You know which one...
... "Mr. way too proud of Texas"
LMAO.
Seriously, it IS better than most but we need to keep it under our hats. The secret is getting out and way too many liberal fruitcakes are moving out here from California... at least here in Central TX. Those fuggers need to turn around and go right back. They screwed up their state and now they want to come here and screw up ours.

Are you really dumb enough to think people are being serious when they talk to you that way? People do it everywhere. I moved here after living in Cali for 20 years and all anybody here asked me my first year was if I lived next to gay people, or how many drive-bys I was in. Its all fun and games bro, dont get butt hurt over it

i moved to DFW, TX from Boston, MA two years ago... been 1.5 years at working at the same company in uptown dallas. every day without fail, people still giggle whenever i say certain 'key words' that have the R's in the right places... and STILL after 1.5 years, people even go as far as to ask me to say certain words and phrases for them like i'm a ******* side show act at a circus.
there is no less cultural intolerance and immaturity in TX than anywhere else... you only tend to see it when you travel because you become the victim.
