I don’t like the look of those clear euro taillights and have been wanting to do this for a long time but didn’t really trust myself cutting open the tail lights. But I figure what the hell, might as well try it and see how it comes out. All I am going to do is take the amber part of these lense and put a clear one like top part of the taillight.

Thanks,
Well thats one of the parts I havent figured out yet lol. I am trying to first get some clear lenses from my Import buddy that works at this shop but if that doesnt work out I might use the clear lenses from my old RK Sport Clear corners since there just sitting in my garage. I hope to do this in the next couple of weeks if things go as planed.

That would look so much better than the big Amber colored section IMHO. You could even put in Amber Bulbs so that when it blinked it would still be yellow but have that white frosted look that the Reverse lights have.
It will be interesting to see how you could do this though. AFAIK, our lenses are molded 1 piece. Can't just pop them out.
It's a shame none of the aftermarket Co's would give us better options for taillights instead of those cheesy looking Alteza styles.
I'd almost consider some of the 93-96 style taillights (Red and White only).

It might be just me, but I thought I saw an SS this
morning that had this. I'll have to keep my eyes open.

Think it looks much better. I would see if you can rig up the new clear portion with a split line from the reverse light. Another reverse light never hurt, especially with tinted windows.

i know this is a real old thread but i've been wanting to do someting with my rear taillights and get rid of the blackouts. i don't really care for the euro style taillights but i don't like the amber color either. has anybody else tried this or something similar?
