Default AFR 205's too much for 231/237 cam?

I switching cams, and am looking to get some heads as well. I am going from a reverse split 228/222 .588/.588 114 lsa cam to a 231/237 .589/.595 112 lsa. Would AFR's be okay or are they to much? I am also looking at some Patriot CNC 243's, since they are having a great deal on them now. I am also upgrading to a 90/90 set up if that helps. Any info would be appreciated.

Both would work great with your new cam.

Many pair up the Tony Mamo spec'ed 224/228 cam with AFR 205, so I would say the AFR 205s would go fine with your cam. That whole combo will work great!

the big dif between afr's and patriat is $$$$$ and you

do you care about every last hp no matter the cost?

then go afr

do you just want a good head that makes good power then go with the patriat.

for the price diff you could do heads and a fast 90 and 90 tb with heads vrs just heads.

I love my afr's but i ran my friend with a ws6 t/a with the patriat heads and a mti cam

first race his cam, heads, mid length headers to a single corsa with cats

me- 2004 gto stock heads ,stock exhauste,100shot,xr281 cam

results from 20-140 i was ahead till 130ish by 145 my front bumper was at his back bumper.
I was ahead the whole way till 135-145 then he pulled me a car to put me at his back bumper

so i move to SC for 8 months

put on the afr's 205,59cc swap the xr281 for a tr224 go to full length long tubes to 3" no cats or res. talk my **** come back to MI

race again

by 140 he has 2 cars on me. my 04 gto was faster with a $600 n2o kit stock than it is now after spending upwards of 4k more.

that is all i am saying.I love my afr's but i did get my *** whooped. but now i have spent more so my point is don't think a set of the best heads will give you what you want you need a package that will make you happy.

quick346......so basically you are saying that you took away the 100 shot of nitrous and added afr 205's and longtubes and also went to a smaller cam and you pretty much kept the same outcome in the race? So that means that the afr's and longtubes (plus smaller cam) were worth at least 100 hp. That seems like a pretty nice outcome with the afr 205's.

How did the tr224 work with the afr 205's? How was the torque and the overall powerband?
