Default 2004 to 2005 Rear Bumper Conversion

My girlfriend just bought a 2004 GTO and she prefers the look of the 05-06 bumper and dual exit exhaust. What all is involved in this conversion? Is it as simple as buying the bumper and putting it on and purchasing a system that fits 05-06 GTOs (doubt it)? Ive searched forever on the forums trying to find a straight answer and came up short.

The bumper will fit but you'll either need to purchase the hard foam piece that goes underneath or get a file and a dust mask and go to town on the 04 foam for a few hours.

i did it with no real problems i got a shop to put it on.. i got the 05 bumper from a junk yard then got the exhaust done. i think total with everything was like 600 for the bumper 350 for the exhaust and 120 to install the bumper.

why don't you just have the other side cut.. with the bansee inserts? I'm sure it's cheaper then buying the 05 bumper.

It is easy. Spent $700 and had a color matched PBM cover and a full bolt in exhaust from the manifolds back. All stock. Took 3 hours to instaal. And that incuded making my own bolt in (don't want to weld to this car) hanger for the extra muffler.

I now have a 2005,6 Corsa sport with a Kooks long tube head package for the 2005,6 as well. Made it a true bolt in. The car looks like an 06' with my 06' tail lights.

The only diff. in the mounting is the foam piece which as radkon stated can easily be modified. Here's a link to a bumper removal...

dont forget that you either have to get a 04 exhaust that was plit for the dual outlet. or you will need 05-06 midpipes and the 05-06 catback. the 05-06 catback will not line up to the 04 midpipes.

Don't switch! The single exit looks sick, how many people have a true dual/single exit setup factory? When I get my '06 IBM GTO this spring I will be looking to swap out the hood and rear bumper for an '04 setup.
