Default NASA AIX possibly coming to the NW

On another forum there is talk being thrown around of a NASA AIX class being brought to PR. The season would consist of PR, PIR, Spokane and one track in Canada. I think right now they are looking for about 9 cars to commit for the season.

The AIX (American Iron Extreme) class is the least limiting of all the NASA classes. Has a low minimum weight and no HP limit. Most of the cars that run the AIX in other places are late model Fbods and fox bodied mustangs with a couple other makes thrown in the mix.

If you have any interest in prepping a car for this let me know and post up. They are looking to have this together for the '09 season.

Some of the rules can be found here:

http://www.americanironracing.com/

Certainly have to run in the Extreme class (< 9.5:1 power to weight ratio....I'm around 6.5)

Any use of Nitrous is prohibited!

I dont think I have ever seen a road racing sactioning body allow the use of nitrous. And i am not to sure you would want to run your car in this class Mark. These guys like to trade paint. Thats the main reason why I am on the fence about this (that and not having a running car).

These are the kinds of cars you would be running against.

Yeah, reading up on this class, these are SERIOUS road course cars / drivers. Probably not for me....but it would be fun to do once in a while. (After I get a few more lapping sessions under my belt so I feel halfway comfortable letting the dogs loose in my car.) I would think this would be a great thing for you to do with the SS between ORR events.

I would seriously consider this if I could ever get a motor back in my car. I have the suspension for it but one thing I am missing is a big brake package and for AIX I would need the big dogs.

I could totally get into this form of racing. Too bad I don't have the budget for it!

I would kill to run in this. Competing in series similar to touring cars is a dream.

If we did it Mark I would want to run and all out LSx in a LTx v6 chassis

Then again I would rather go to a few real races with MKM

Already talked to Bill about the '71. No dice there. And I dont think that Jeffs vette would fit the rules. To low to the ground and might be to light. I'll have to check the rules again but I think the car has to have its production based motor in it as well.
