Default No Y = Car Fire

This is a post on ebay. Seller of the headers claims that the owner ran the car without the Y pipe and set it on fire.

FLP, does that mean Flaming LS1 Pipes?

I just posted this as a caution for anybody thinking about doing that.

i seriously doubt open headers caused this. there are a million cars at the track and at national events with open headers right up against the floor board. My guess is some type of fluid leaked on them.

Yea and they said it happened at Moroso. After thinking about I believe that there is no harm in running open headers. They either had fluid on them or something flamable on the floor underneath the car or a fuel leak. Whatever it is the headers do look intact.

If they are the most knowledgeable then why in the hell don't they know what kind of headers they are? I understand that there are a now many different brands of headers for the LS1 F-Body but there are only a few styles so they should be able to identify the style at least.

PS

I have not seen is the Stainless Works headers so if someone has a pic I would love to see it.

Later,
Bart

FYI, all you transamcreations bashers, have you ever worked with them? http://www.tacreationsusa.com is BY FAR the BEST F-Body salvage yard you will find! Not only is their staff polite and patient, their customer service is top notch.

I know of VERY few people who can say the same a bout speedautomotive and those that do won't for long if they continue to deal with speed auto, trust me on that.

Heh. Speed automotive. Worst customer service experience I have had in my entire life. I got so frustrated with dealing with them that I actually let it go (70$ mirror that I never got). I chalked the money up to a learning experience. NEVER BUY FROM SPEED AUTOMOTIVE EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER.
