Tire Size question for 2000 Trans Am WS6?
Hey guys I need some help, I need some new tires for my T/A. I have the factory 17's for a WS6 and I was reading the widest tire I can go for a factory rim is to be about 275/40/17?? Is this true? I like the look of how big and wide a 315 tire looks but I believe from my reading it's not going to happen unless I get a wider rim, do I have that correct? Could someone please fill me in on a good tire and the widest size tire I can go please? The car doesn't see much road time it is not a daily and I have close to no mods done yet. Thanks.

from what I gathered looking at specs on tirerack, 10" is the narrowest they recommend for a 315, if you want some different wheels, I have a set of silver zr1's with the 11 incher out back with 315's on them.

315s have been talked about so much on stock rims over the years I think it is actually site policy NOT to discuss it. Some people say they are ok, some not. Definitely not gonna find a manufacturer that says a 315 is OK to run on your wheel size. But people do it.
Anything other than a 275 or 315 is gonna be an oddball size and hard to find. Companies just don't make sizes in betweengenerally speaking. I did find this though. Might be a good option if you don't want a drag radial. Most other in between sizes you find are gonna be road course tires.....

Put 275 40 17 for more options , but 285s will work. I had 285s on my 96 corvette with 17 x 9.5s
I don't care how many morons insist 315s will work(inrontnthink anyone in this thread has said they're OK but I've read it before) , it's not only dangerous but it also looks like *** on a 9.5 wide
