Default Another New Turbo Build

Well, I've been working on this setup for awhile now just haven't posted it up on ls1tech until now. Here's my setup:

Engine:
LS6 Block
Forged diamond dish pistons
317# Truck Heads
Forged Eagle H-beam rods
ARP mainbolts
LS6 intake
60# injectors
Granatelli GM722-2 Fuel Pump
High volume ported LS6 pump
MLS 5-layer gaskets
ARP Studs

Turbo setup:
Copycat kit
all coated & wrapped
Master Power T70 turbo
-4an feed from thing above oil filter
custom made 1" drain to front of oil pan underneath timing cover
38mm WG
Custom alt relocation bracket
Oil feed above oil filter
Oil drain in front of oil pan lip

Exhaust:
3" downpipe, 3" i-pipe, 3" QTP cutout, 3" Magnaflow

Pictures (I'll update more as I get'em)
-------------------------------------

Homemade intercooler spray:

So pretty much car is done just intercooler piping. Car runs, drives, checked all the major problem areas with the P*K kits and addressed issues that other users have had. I run a high volume ls6 pump and have no problem with overpreassurizing the turbo, drain is a 1" made from household piping found at home depot.

I have been toying with buying that kit to keep as spare parts for mine

What kind of motor mounts did you end up going with? After 6K miles or so on my setup, the streering shaft going down to the rack has had it's inner rubber bits burn out and have slop that cannot be removed by tightening hardware any longer. I just got a tubular K member this week, and I got a great deal on a flaming river manual rack and steering shaft. Tired of the PS pump constantly weeping around the cap even with pipes wrapped.

Good work so far, looks nice. How does the quality of those parts look to you? They are a great deal.

Hey man, well obviously I did my research, I'm careful when it comes to money. I went with poly mounts (yes i heard they melt/have issues so i have a set of solid mounts sitting in my garage) , i'm going to document how long it takes to damage the mounts so i can let people know. also, as for the hotparts, they came in perfect condition. Very solid welds, thick flanges, everything lined up perfectly. I also had a friend who, very poorly decided, had bought the SSAC kit and we compared and you can really see a different - the SSAC was a very thin, cheap metal, the flanges were much thinner and you feel like you can hand break the piping, this kit I have is actually made from a thicker metal, i'm not too technical on like metal types/thinkness, i'll leave that to other people. But i did get all my hotside coated and wrapped it all. Now about the PS, i wrapped each line individually, so we'll see how she handles. I purposely bought the hot parts only because i do not trust chineese turbos or anything, I already new the turbo i wanted to go with - MP T70. I havent seen too many people using these turbos, they're all using like S80, PT70, etc.. I'm going to document how well this turbo does too so people can get a good idea.

Alot of people have used the MP units. Some haven't had great luck with them....so you won't see many posts about them.

Oh, okay. Well I'll still keep a document about mine and see how far i can push it and it's reliability. If mine goes down the drain then I'll move onto something bigger and better.

glad to see it come together.
what issues have you had with the knockoff kit? any insight on that?
so are there two versions, the SSAC and yours plus the original version?

yeah, SSAC, as everyone knows, makes POS parts. well i actually did a compare in person of the two kits and the one i have fits perfectly and seems engineered much better. now i haven't had the car drivable on the road yet so i still have much to write about, but so far, fittament, strength, etc.. seems perfect. i have everything coated and wrapped as a precaution. i'll def let people know though, as i'm planning on having car on road this weel.

Also smokinhawk, i'm having problems with the belt again, as the tensoner won't fit where your bracket puts it anymore due to the turbo stuff bein there, do you have anything else that places the tensioner there? it has to be in that area cuz the belt would interfere with the piping. (i just rememberd that while typing this)

can you get some pictures of the interference?
it is made to work with the truck manifold setup for sure, but it might not work with that particular kit dont know for sure. get me some pictures and let me know and we will work something out.
