My buddy needs some money, and im going to be buying a cam here pretty soon. What is a reasonable amount to pay him to put the cam in and valve springs on?

We were talking about this the other night. We put my cam in on Sunday, and I wouldnt do one for less than $500. That would include your valve springs too though. Local shops are in the $900 range and I am not sure that includes springs, so that is a deal. I wouldnt do it for you unless you changed to stronger springs.
Oh and if your buddy isnt good at working on cars and if he hasnt done an LS1 cam before, I wouldnt let him do a cam. THere are too many things that can go wrong and cost you a fortune to fix.

Hes pretty good, hes put in quite a few cams, i trust him. I called the GM dealer today and they quoted me at 1440 just for the cam...but **** it sounds to expensive. maybe i wont be doing this. I have 3 things i was debating between for income taxes. Thats Heads/Cam
Nitto 555's 3.73's and a Tune
Or lid MAF and a Ram air hood
From the sounds of it i can do the 555's 3.73's Tune MAF Lid and ram air hood just for the cost of the Cam and Heads

Do the basics before you get into a head/cam setup. If you dont already have a lid, other supporting mods and a way to put the power to the ground whats the point of having a big setup and not using it to its full potential??

I paid 200 for mine installed....was going to do it myself but I said screw it with that price, and it was done over the weekend...tuned also. Just saying it doesn't have to be expensive, that being said....
If he's a buddy, and hurting for cash...Maybe pay him a little more just as a favor, be a good pal.
