Default 10k and a 2001 vette

My first stab at ls1tech. Have 80k mi on her and thought 10k would be a nice number for upgrading her. Looking for lots of feedback as to how I should spend this and I would like to start with a new crate LS7. Have no info yet on where to buy engine and how to have it build(compression ratio and such)

How would you spend it?

Thanks

Just use the ls1, $10k will get you going where you want to go.

1..turbo kit ,tune, maybe bottem end(labor will rape you)...
2..superchager, full exhaust, tune....
3.200 wet shot, full exhaust, tune...

will smoke a ls7 crate!

for 10k i believe buying a LS7 would be the wrong route to go. GMPP wants 13k just for the crate. thats not including the labor and additional modifications to make a feat like that feasible. Im sure a sponsor would be able to track down a cheaper one, but id shy away due to shear cost. Build your LS1 or find a stout 6.0 block and mod to fit what you are looking for. ie: boost / spray / all motor... good luck bud!

An ls7 would be over 10k. For 10k you could do FI, H/C, and full exhaust if you spend your money right.

I would do any of those options, and you could throw H/C/I into the mix. Personal preferance really, but if I had 10k to throw towards the car i would go with option number 1. Not sure if you are M6 or A4, but a converter would be something to think about if its and auto, regardless of which power route you went. And suspension and so on and so on, it never really ends does it?

Im with green28 with the H/C/I, supercharge it, upgrade the fuel system, get a full exhaust system and a tune. then whatever tranny/rear end you got is gonna just think of the hp numbers and go limp! anyways I love the FI, but I prefer doing all of the bolt ons and internals done. once thats all done I would go with the FI.

Forged Bottom End
Heads & Cam
90/90 Intake/TB
Full Exhaust
Directport n2o
Fuel System
Fuel Injectors

If you have any money left address the Tranny and/or Rearend. Pretty much all of the parts I've mentioned above, you could easily find them used and get a great deal on them. I too am a fan of FI but truthfully, with the amount of money you have for modding right now, above is what I'd do with it. If you had more than 10k then below is what I'd do...

Forged 346 or Forged LS2
FI Friendly Heads & Cam
Procharger Kit w/F1A Headunit or a really nice TT setup
Methanol / Water Injection Kit
Fuel System along with 60# Injectors
Moser Rearend
Built T56 w/ Textrelia Clutch
Full Suspension

Just drop an LS3 crate in and be happy. You don't need to waste your money on the LS7. The LS3 is packing 450hp.

ohhhhh YEAH it would be. But thats over 10g.
What about a L92 to 415ci and a 12:1CR.
That will get you into the 10s on pump gas, and spray it later on to get lower times!
Give TSP and Thunder Racing to look at the options.

Good call.

I would get a iron 408LSx block with L92 heads(cheap) and L76 intake, cam, and a D1SC. That would def be in your price range(11-12K)

Basically like everyone else said, scrap the LS7 idea. Now, where do want to go? H/C, Turbo or Supercharger?

the LS7 is costly. and don't go spray. I think that would be a waste of money.

Spraying is a waste of money?

There is NO other mod for the money (hp/$), LS1s love nitrous.

I'm with this guy, mod wise the best bang for the buck would be Nitrous as opposed to FI. However, at the same time how often will you be in a situation i.e. at the track, where you'll mostlikely be using a power adder to attain your 1/4 mile goal (if you have one)?

I think that's one of the things I forgot to ask you, what are your goals for the car?
