Default What center section to get

Ok I will be getting a moser 9 in hear before to long and I am trying to deside what center section to go with. I am looking at a 3.70 gear. Car is not my daily driver, will see the track a fair amount. But I Also will want to take this car on some trips to the beach and just cruise. So I really don't think I want a Spool. And I was thinking I would kinda like 33 splines because of the wide availabilty of center sections.
Also the car with be making 600rwhp+

Thanks

I'd go with the 31 inch with the Truetrac too. Bob

If you want it smooth on the street 31 SPline Truetrac is the way to go. If you want garunteed traction when you get to the track I would say 35 Spline Detroit Locker but it will bang and clunk a lot around corners. Let me know if we can help you out or if you have any questions.

31 spl and truetrac diff will work fine... i have one in my car with the same or more power. works fine at the strip with slicks. the cost will be the same, but the 35's and a locker will no doubt be stronger.

What is your tolerance for noise during a turn. This may impact what you choose. Trutrac will be quieter than a locker, but the locker will be stronger. Do you plan to up the HP in the future? If so I would go 35 spline.

Let me know if we can help.

I went for a 35spline with locker from midwest chassis. I dont ever want to touch it again and I think I can handle clicking and clunks as its not a DD.

I had a retired guy come in who had a place install a locker in his Camaro, he thought maybe they left some bolts loose as it would wander all over the road. We checked it out and it was just the locker unlocking and locking each axle. It is a wierd feeling, sort of like how a car with slicks wanders at the big end of the 1/4 track when you let off the gas. We replaced his locker with a spool, since he had 35 spline axles, and he simply loves it now, as it is much more driveable. Bob

they are not designed for cars with the weight of a f-body. Strange will tell you this if you call them. it was meant for dragsters and comp. eliminator cars running pro gears in lighter weight cars. it is a great design, but not for the street/strip f body application.
