Default 305's or 315's fitting

What sort of mods if any will I have to do to make 305's or 315's to fit under my camaro? The car is lowered 1-1.5".

Easy. Put LE1 springs on and 17x11x 50mm offset wheels on the back and 17x11x36mm offset wheels on the front.

This way, you can run 315s on all four corners.

On a camaro I have heard you may need to roll the fender if they are lowered. You will need to hammer the inner fender.

with running a 36mm offset front and a 50mm offset rear, do the tires look funny because they are not the same along the side of the car??

do you know what i mean??

Well, the picture in this post gives an idea as to how the car looks from the front with 315s. I posted 5 shots a few weeks ago here from different angles and the pics are listed in a different post in the Racing forum below too.

Anyway, the whole experience was frustrating since people in the Wheels & Tires forum section here kept telling me its a dumb idea, its is not possible, stones will destroy the paint, the car will loook like ***, etc.

I was surprised at how easy it was. No issues at all; the car turns 100% to the left and right with no rubbing. I just bolted the wheels on the car - DONE. I'm on 1LE (SS) springs, however.

The car corners like a train on a track! I've gone 95mph on a few long but sharp on-ramps and off-ramps to test the set up. ...not even a slight tire squeel.

Yeh, 1LE springs are stock SS springs - 360 lbs front 130 lbs in rear. Non-SS springs are 300/115lbs, respectively.

Anyway, the car is not lowered, but I suspect any difficulty putting 315s on all fours with a lowered ride would be with the REAR and not the front. For 315s on the rear of a lowered car, many here have said you need (1) a hammer job, (2) a roll fender job, or (3) both.

With all the cool mods being done to these cars, it is surprising to me that more folks are not doing 315s x 4. ...one of the best mods I have done so far!

One other note:

I chose 36MM offset wheels for the front and they were readily availible to match the ZR1 wheels and 315 tires that I had already installed earlier on the rear. If you have non-ZR1 - 11 inch wide rims in 50mm offset on rears, for example, you could also go with the same wheel and offset for the front. This would require some 1/4 inch or less wheel spacers and longer wheel studs, however.

All-in-all, a easy and effective mod.

I don't mean to bash this setup, but I thought I'd read that doing 315s on all 4 was just overkill, due to the fact that a 9.5 or 10 up front would be more than sufficient to handle normal driving, as spirited as it may get. Am I incorrect in my thinking? Your car does look impressive though, and your comments are making me consider this myself.

315s x 4 = Overkill?

Isn't spraying a +300HP factory car overkill?

I suppose it is a subjective determination.

I enjoy high speed cornering and knowing I can do this very easily with this set-up is satisifaction, I suppose.

In my neck of the woods, there are TONs of Porka (Porsche) owners who think they are Michael Schumaker. I've always been able to blow them off on the straights. Now I can blow them off on the curves too.

What about doing a 36 mm offset both front and rear instead of getting the 50 mm offset, maybe to aid in rotation. Dont the 36s stick a bit further out of the wheel well. I seen your post and the idea is striking a chord with me, it looks totally aswome. I dont have 1le springs on yet since i have stock stuff for a 95 TA. My 17 in rims I had on my car ealier where stolen, and i wanna replace them with some black Grand Sport rims or zr1 style. What offset did the GS rims come with for the 11 in wide rim anyhow. I am just getting an idea who to shop with for a quality, but lower priced set.

17s or 18's? how wide is the wheel? But to me 305s are a waste of $ In the 18" world 295s or 315s. The 305's are 60$ more a tire voer the 295s and you cant even tell they are wider they look the same!
