There is no Roadrunner anymore in Houston, Comcast bought them out. It's got good speed, but Comcast isn't near as good as the old RR in the Houston market area. Back in the day when I went to the Timewarner (RR) store, there was 1 person there bored out of their mind, when I went to the Comcast store front (same location) they had 5 people behind the counter & the line was out the door.

Granted a lot of this may be because of incompatible equipment since they are probably rolling things over to the comcast system.....either way, It pisses me off that Timewarner/RR got bought out. Comcast also started jacking up the prices...I've been meaning to check into AT&T service, I hear they have cable & high speed now.....Anyone know about the AT&T service?

AT&T now has FTTN (Fiber To The Neighborhood). We just went with AT&T U-Verse getting 10 mbps download and over 1 mbps upload. It is actually cheaper than what we were paying for cable. This includes a TV service.

If you live in Verizon's area and can get their fiber to the home, DO IT! Verizon FiOS has been rated #1 in all categories. They have blazing fast connection (both download and upload).

AT&T is way cheaper and also better in my opinion. Fiber to the home is not available everywhere, but regular dsl is not bad.

Fiber to the door beats anything. You can get up to 50 mbps upload and download in some areas. UVerse is fiber to the DSLAM and then vDSL via copper. If you CAN get verizon, do it. I wish I could. :-(
