I put pacesetters on my ls1 a few months ago when I had the motor out, I really wasnt on this site much and never thought about not using the new paper gaskets they give you, so I bolted them on also with the bolts they give you. Ive been looking at posts and noticed I may have made a major mistake by not using at least the factory metal gaskets. The car hasnt been ran yet still waiting for the weather to clear. How long will those gaskets hold up? Or should I just start the painful process of unbolting the headers in the car and switching the gaskets b4 spring....someone tell me the paper gaskets will be fine so I dont have to lol

Mine never leaked in the 2 years I had them on my car. You might want to change them now though, because once you run them they will bake themselves onto the manifolds. If you ever have to take the headers off it will be a pain to get all of the old gasket off, it took me hours to get all that **** off.

I re-used my stockers and no problems.. I have had the headers off several times since without any leakage.

I went ahead and bought new stockers. Not knowing the condition of the orginals I thought I would go ahead and get them. I must say after seeing them the stock ones are very nice.

Just use the stock steel gaskets. They work very well. Mine never leaked when I used them on my headers.

its not really that hard to change the gaskets all you have to do is unbolt the header from the head slip the old one out and slip the new one in. its a little bit of a pain but not that much. and i would use a metal gasket the paper ones to me tend to break

ya find some free time soon before you start getting some heat cycles going... might as well get them done now while it easy than making even more difficult later, plus you never know how well they will seal once you start making a few runs so if you have them changed out you'll have one thing less to worry about
