WTF car stolen??? WHAT THE @#$% Part 3 - WTF!!!
So my insurance just called back and they offered to buy my car for 9,700 with my 100 dollar deductable
WHAT THE ****
thats like nothing?
I am beyond angry at this point since this car is easily worth more than that stock, cars on my autotrader and craigslist are going for 12000 with similar miles and same year

they always low ball on the first offer. come to think of it, they try and lowball every offer. thats just how they save all that money they think comes out of their own pocket.
you dont have to take what they offer, but you might want to get comfortable, cause they will drag it out for as long as they can. they do that tin hopes that you get frustrated and just take whatever they throw your way.

my buddy has Progressive and they shafted him when he hit a deer. I have American Family and they are GREAT to me. i only pay $175/ month for full on both the Vette and my '00 Silverado. that's total for both during the summer months man fight with them a little, they are screwing you~Cole~

American Family screwed me on mine, fought with them for a while to no avail - dumb *** adjuster - 'Those one month old Konis are worth no more than regular replacements' and when going through mods he at first did not know what sub frame connectors were and the next day was the expert on them 'those do no good'.......

I had a 93 cobra, the rare tiel color with 17000 original miles and a vortec. That car was a collectors item. It was stolen and totaled all in 1 hour and i recieved 7200 dollars for it. It was sold and i was signing papers on it in 2 days for 16,500. And even though i could prove what it was sold for that amount it didnt matter and my attorney said it would cost more to fight then to take the offer. Only thing i could negotiate was for them to give me the totaled car to see how much i could make off the rest of it.
They are going by galves, Which is primarily what dealers use. And that is more then what galves has as the nation average selling price on that vehicle. Popularity and the value they hold in these small communities( ls1tech, ls1gto and so on) has no effect on what average selling price in the nation is. And mods, You can try and you may get a little extra but in your policy it will state the coverages on any after factory parts. You usually have to have a specialty coverage for the aftermarket parts.

Don't take the first offer. It's like buying a car from a dealer, you can negotiate.
You won't get a ton more than their offer, but you should be able to get an extra 10% at least.
No point in getting a lawyer, it'll cost you more than it's worth.

Yes don't accept the first offer, the work you've done to it try to provide receipts... and there is no point in getting a lawyer because they really can't do anything on a property damage claim.

honestly, you'll need a lawyer to try and argue the fair market value.
what the insurance company will say is that they insure the car as what it appears to be. if your car is in exceptional condition, or has mods, custom paint etc, you should have toldd them that before hand... at which point they will charge you a higher premium based on the car's assumed value.
i've been through this before.
if your car is worth thousands more than what's offer, consider spending 1000 or so on a lawyer to attempt an argument with them.
if you lose, you're still out the money for the lawyer.
your best bet is to buy it back and part it out.

I really would advise against getting a lawyer unless you had more than 10k in parts or something. Even then, you are partially at fault for not insuring something so expensive.
Reject that first offer, give them A TON of craigslist adds, ton of autotrader adds, and that price should steadily rise. My buddy just did the exact same thing when he totaled his T/A a few months back.
EDIT: I'm hoping it's obvious, but make sure the adds are from your area
