Threw codes, replaced 02 sensor, and codes came back
I threw two codes:
P0155 - Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit (bank 2, sensor 1)
P1153 - HO2S Insufficient Switching Bank 2 Sensor 1
I replaced the O2 sensor and reset the PCM. About 70 miles later I threw both codes, again. Does anyone know what's going on? Why I threw the same codes after I replaced the O2 sensor? As a side note, my car has been running rough and bank 2 is running leaner than bank 1 for some reason (I posted some questions regarding that issue about a week ago). I'm sure the two issues are related some how.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jim

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but where (and how) do I check power and grounds?
Thanks for the reply,
Jim

Seen numerous header people with this same
problem, I believe it relates to the sensor
being too cool due to remote location and
greater cooling surface area. I've never
seen anyone who reported a clean fix to it
though. Seems like it would be best to just
find a way to run the heaters full time and
fool the PCM into thinking it still had control.

Re: Threw codes, replaced 02 sensor, and codes came back
Brian,
Does LGM stand for LG Motorsports? I looked on LG Motorsports' web page and the only thing I found was an O2 Simulator. Is that what you are refering to? Also, was one of your banks running leaner than the other bank? And if so, did this solve the problem?
Thanks,
Jim

I forgot to mention that I cut my EGR tube a while ago. Could this cause Bank 2 to run leaner than Bank 1 and cause the DTCs?

The 02s on the vette are different front and rear, this I know for sure. Call Lou at LG Motorsports and they will fix you up. Worked great for me. I have no CATs and my front 02s are way back in the mid pipe not in the header. so this fixed mine great. Try it if you are setting codes for Insufficient switching of front 02s.
It's just so simple

Re: Threw codes, replaced 02 sensor, and codes came back
Brian,
I believe the only time you run O2 simulators is when you do not run cats (I could be wrong). Unfortunately, I plan to run cats, so I don't think the O2 simulators are an option. Also, I had the headers on for about a year without a problem. I installed poly motor and trans mounts, descreened the MAF, and cut my EGR tube all at the same time. Since those mods my passenger side bank is running leaner than my driver's side bank and I'm getting DTCs related to the B2S1 O2.
Maybe that info will help someone in diagnosing the problem.
Thanks,
Jim

You may want to make sure that you don't have an exhaust leak on that side. An exhaust leak will expose your O2 sensor to extra oxygen causing it to indicate a false lean condition. This causes a large split between the banks. Additionally, it will prematurely burn out your O2 sensor. An exhaust leak usually leads by an insufficient code then slowly wipes out your sensor.
Good Luck,
Kevin

First of all, sorry Brian I misunderstood!
First I'll look for an exhaust leak. If I don't find one I'll contact LGM about an adapter (not an O2 simulator )
Thanks for everyone's replies!
I'll post what I find out

Re: Threw codes, replaced 02 sensor, and codes came back
O.K. my car is finally running right. It turned out that I had an exhaust leak at the interface of the EGR tube and the header. This was causing the passenger bank to run leaner than the driver's bank. I replaced the gasket and my problems went away. It's amazing that such a little exhaust leak could cause such a big headache. Anyway Thank you everyone for your input! If it wasn't for this forum I'd still be
Thanks again,
Jim
