Default Power Steering Pulley

I prefitted an LQ4 today into my Monte. Using the truck accessories and the adapater plates I choose the stock truck PS pulley hits the steering box.

The stock pulley measure 6.75" diameter. Does any company make a pulley thats a smaller diameter?

How about an Fbody pulley? It is smaller? My only other choice would be to swap to all Fbody front accessory drive and I don't really have that in the budget right now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys
Nick

I believe the pump that came with my ls1 was an F-body pump. It wasn't mounted and it would not fit my c5 bracket. Anyway, I did manage to seperate the pump from the reservoir and make it work with a little rigging on my c5 bracket.

The part number on the pulley is 25522518 UA and it is 5 3/4 in diameter.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

You may want to double check my part # since I had to read it with a mirror.

Did the smaller pulley resolve the issue?

1996 Ford Econoline 351 p/s pulley should work, I have not verified this, just heard about it.

I saw your cutlass thread. Please make sure to post up your findings as many of us are using truck engines these days....even if they are a LS2 from an SSR

My 5.3 out of a 2005 GMC Envoy (same as Trailblazer) measures 5.5" with a .75 shaft diameter which should fit a Camaro pump. I believe Vette pumps have a .66 diameter shaft.

What mouting otion for the engine did you use? BRP Edlebrock plates, etc? I'm guessing the 5,5 pulley allowed it to clear?

Default pulley Question

I found that a late 80s ford six cylinder (4.9 - I think) in an Econoline van had a power steering pump setup identical to the Truck engine (LQ9, in my case) power steering. I pulled the pulley from the vehicle and installed it and it fit perfectly, with room to drop the engine about 3/8 of an inch. For pictures of the instillation, see the 10-16-2007 entry in my journal about rebuilding a 1966 GTO with a LQ9 Escalade engine using the truck alt/power steering bracket:

hope this helps.
