salvage, rebuild.
Well recently I have been looking into buying another f body and ive ran across quite a few with "salvage" or "rebuilt" titles i know what the salvage means etc, but if it has a 'rebuilt" title it means it was salvage at one point but was fixed correctly and inspected and deemed as good or better then factory specs? My question is if the car does have a rebuilt title will its value be alot lower than say a clean title?

Yes the value will be a lot lower. Make sure it is not stolen. A few cars down here were sold as salvage when they were actually stolen. The thieves were taking them and using the vin from wrecked cars then selling them as rebuilt

The only way I would buy anything besides a clear title is if I saw before and after pictures of the accident and repair. also I would like to know the body shop it was taken to and ask around if they were reputable. If it was a stolen title...just imagine what you would do if you stole something and didnt get a crap about what happened to that vehicle

My truck has a rebuilt title. KBB was $12k in fair condition. I paid $7200 out the door. So yes, it reduces its value. Some say by as much as half compared to if it were in good condition.
Edit: Before I bought it, I made sure to take it to my own mechanic to make sure everything was within spec. And I had an idea ahead of time what parts were replaced (only body panels).

my ins paid me for a salvage title car that was totaled and they gave my 1/2 what the book value was. my lawyer said there was nothing that could be done, basically. they are hard to resell also if you decide to get rid of it.

If you plan on keeping it forever, I say get it. Just get it checked out really well before hand. Maybe let a body shop strap it to a frame machine and take some measurements. If you plan on selling it at some point, it's probably not worth it. Unless you are getting it dirt cheap.
