Default So I just got this awesome idea

Not sure if any one has done this before or not. But I was lookin at my car earlier from a distance and the lighting on the car made the left headlight look VHT nightshaded and the right was normal, and I got to thinking it would look awesome if they and the clear corners were night shaded. My car is a black 00 SS. Let me know what you think about it. I'm one of those people who will just buy **** to try stuff out on lol so I'm kinda a guinea pig here if no 1 else has done it before. LEMME KNOW UR OPINIONS!!

If you really dont wanna see at night go ahead... Niteshading the headlights is a bad idea but the corners can be done easy.. I have my corners shaded and i love them.. If you want the headlights to appear darker do a full whistler mod..

its still black paint over something light shines through. it is going to limit light output.

I'd say tint the headlights! I've seen smoked lens headlights before and I like the way they look. Plus I had smoked headlight covers over my TrailBlazer's headlights that were so dark you couldn't see that there was a headlight behind em, but there was enough light to drive by at night without problems. Then I switched to a hyper-white bulb and it was better...still not as bright as without the covers. To weigh the looks vs light output...it was well worth it! Semper Fi, and happy modding! Swat

OOH-RAH!!

My friend had black covers over his front lights on his mach 1 kinda like blackouts for the back I think. Looked absolutly sick but not sure how well it lit the road so i cant say. Does look sick blacked out though.

well what about this idea... we've all heard of HID lighting being a problem to safety, but with VHT night shade, this could easily limit light output on HID kits, so producing less of a hazard for other drivers.. think it could work??

it seems that you want to do it so bad that ur making up different ideas so people will agree with you... just do it.. i think if you have hids it would be better and put the light down to a decent level.. but i say go for it becuase i can tell you want to

Honestly I'd say it's ok to VHT every other exterior lens on your car except the headlights. I'd just buy the covers & then you can remove them at night to keep from warping them & keep visibility.

There is no way to tint or smoke a headlight lens without losing some visibility. And that could cause a safety issue.

he's just trying to figure out if there is a way to do it safely. my thought would be to find a used pair of headlight lenses and try it on those first and then make your decision, the only way to really know weather or not it would work is to try it. the only thought with hid is the expense, you would have to weigh wether or not its worth the cost (but then again if hids are in your plans then its not much of a variable) safety definately is a concern though and you might want to check into laws regarding modifying your headlights... i know the whistler mod had been tossed out there so thats an idea also.

sure, if you don't want to see at night, the whistler mod is SOOOO much better than blackig out your headlights....VHT on the DRL's is fine though, yes it will limit the amount of light that shines out, but who cares, they are not for visibility....
