Default Bra's for a WS-6

Posted this on the other forum. Any help would be great.!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What can you guys tell me about them....
Who makes a good one. ??
Price's ??
Are they worth the money ?
Do they hurt the paint ?

Did a little looking around myself and could only find that Colgan makes one that fits a Ram Air model......
Any input would be appreciated......

Usually the roads here are jus' fine for the front bumper of my car. If there will ever be a time where I need some protection for the front bumper, I would probably jus' use some Blue Painter's tape for the moment.

That's if it's occasional. If it's more frequent, then yea, look into a bra. Pretty expensive though.

I have a black one on on my camaro, I think these things are ugly. Only reason why it is there is the car came with it to hold the driver fender together lol.
(sig pic was taken when I took it off to give the car a good washing)

If you don't need one, I say don't get one.

Thought of the painters tape........Don't know. It's going to be a 400 + round trip and thought a vinyl bra would work well. And what I've found so far they're only around $130...... Again thats why I'm asking....

i got a colgan off ebay for a little cheaper then brand new. but, brand new from colgan are only about $100, last i check. i only use it for autoxing, and if i ever get to a road course. i dont like them for permanent use, but a long road trip is fine. be sure to wash and wax throroughly before the trip, and immediately after. if left on for a long time, like a daily driver parked outside, then yeah it will screw up the paint. but just a few trips, its well worth the money. when my TA was new and still a DD, i took her up to upstate NY, 350 miles one way, through the adirondack mts. the chips and nicks are still there today, 6yrs later. if i had a bra then, none of them would have happened.

i say either look around for a used, or just buy new from colgan. its worth it.

I used to have a Colgan - bought it only to use for the drive down from PA to Myrtle Beach. I never used it again and sold it...

It did fit like a glove though - just a PITA to install/remove and I wasn't looking to get one to use constantly. Even the best will ruin your paint - especially if you leave them on while washing, or in the rain, and then not take them off to dry - they will eventually cloud your paint permanently.

Now if you're looking to get something to cover up an already fairly trashed paint job on your nose - then go for it...

Well when your paint is already screwed up and it is what holds your fender together you kinda learn how to put up with it

You guys are really making me think on this....The ugly part of it I don't care about cause I'll only use it for long highway driving (which is'nt much BTW). As long as it keeps the front end nick free and does'nt ruin the paint just for a 4- 500 mile trip I might try one....

Thanks for all the input guys..

go ahead and do it. the cost of a bra will far outweigh the cost of fixing chips. and they are NOT that ugly. especially if bought for long trips, who gives a ****??

case in point.....this is why i bought mine:

Doesn't look bad, on a black car. Other colors the bra sticks out like a sore thumb.

you can either get a 3m clear bra(good option)
or you can live and fix chip(not that expensive to fix, it is pretty easy too)

Mine came from here
http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/colcuspontra.html
I have already given you my thoughts. 2 1/2 years in snow, rain, washing, sand, salt. No problems. My other 02 silver transam had no bra and had the chips. I'll keep the bra. You just got to clean it and the front of your car like I said before. Just use for trips and you will be happy.
