Anyone else have bad experience with Sumitomo tires
My buddy bought some as a wheel and tire package on ebay, the tires are 275 40 17, and his experience is that they suck. He has had them for a little over a year now, the tires have only been on the street, and they perform like crap in all weather conditions. I took a ride in his car the other day when it was raining (not downpouring) and it felt as if we were riding on a frozen lake or on an oil spilt road; at any light acceleration the tires broke loose, on the hway with a little gas going 60mph the rear end kicked out immediatley. He had Nitto drags b4 on his stock 16's and according to him they were a better all around tire than the sumitomo's. Just curious to hear if anyone else has experienced bad feedback on these tires; I have always believed in you get what you pay for...cheap tires = crappy performance.

I have had them and they are just a cheap tire end of story...for the price your not gonna get phenomenal results out of them..they are a cheap option for someone who needs new tires and can ride around on them but not for someone that wants the performance aspect of it

I bought a set of Sumi's for my 17x11 TT2s....what a joke. Unless you are completely worn out on your old tires, just keep saving for something better. Terrible traction in the dry, and downright dangerous in the wet...and my car was fairly stock

I have 315 Sumis, I have had no problems in the rain or snow but anything more than 50% throttle in 1st or 2nd and it is like being on ice, your gonna need both lanes if you wanna hit on it.

You're very lucky then. I would get side ways in my old Camaro while in 2nd gear at 30mph while slowly rolling into the throttle. Forget about the track, 2.4 60's all night.
The traction wasn't even my biggest issue with them, the ******* would never stay balanced. If it was cool out side in the morning the damn car would shake like hell until the tires warmed up.
