450rwhp /420 tq daily driver with heads and cam???
Is it possible to make 450 rwhp / 420 rwtq with a daily driver type camshaft running good heads (ETP 215's) with full bolt ons?
When I say daily driver camshaft I mean something like a TSP Torquer cam or Patrick G cam.
This would be in a M6 TA, stock bottom end, 4.10 gears.
Ported LS2 90 mm intake
Holley 90 mm TB
Kooks LT's, ORY, Corsa Catback

not sure why you list the LS2 intake...its not that good really. the FAST would be a better choice.
and my head choice would be the AFR 205s milled to boost compression as much as you can without flycutting for the cam you chose.
the low runner size will boost torque as will lower compression.

yeah I know I went with a LS2 intake because I already had it and also liked the one piece construction for future possibilities of going boost on this motor.
Seems like 450+ rwhp is only possible when using a cam
with duration above 230 and lifts above .600

I tuned a 02 T/A the past summer that made 440rwhp on on our Mustang MD-1100SE dyno. It had a G5X3 @ 112 cam, Trick Flow 215's and a FAST 90/90 set up through an automatic and a 9" rear end. I'd like to know what that car would have pulled if it were a manual on a DynoJet. With a good tune, that cam is very streetable (enough for a DD, I had it in my Z28 for a year and drove it year round).

Im a stock bottom end and stock head car (not ported) but they are 243. I made 422rwhp and 396rwtq with LS6 intake and MTI Polished Billet Throttlebody and 2002 LS6 injectors. 440hp and 405tq after I went with the Fast 90/ Nick Williams but my injectors were maxed out, I have a set of SVO 30lb now but I havent had time to get my friend to tune them in yet. Its doable horsepower wise and has been done plenty of times but with the heads you are wanting or got if the heads bump compression up (decking heads) maybe you will have the torque (420tq) but without more compression all the cams you are looking at are great performers and Im sure you wont be disappionted. Would you happen to know what the duration #'s are, is it above 230?
It just seems that any cam with a duration less than 230 or .600 lift just won't make it over the 450 RWHP mark. Will get close but not over.
As for compression it has to stay with a 62CC head, not looking to run anything more than 93 octane or risk pinging, etc.

OP: I have no reason to believe 450rwhp with a good well thought out setup couldn't be accomplished. My dyno numbers are with stock 241 heads, stock LS6 intake through a catback...absolutely nothing special about my stuff. These numbers are also through a 9" rear. Put some good heads and a ported LS2 intake or Fast 90 and I would have a hard time believing it didn't make more then 450rwhp. My cam is smaller then the TSP torquer2 at 230* on the intake as well. The Torquer V.2 seems to put down good numbers but I am not sure you would hit your 420rwtq goal with that cam.

Sounds great drives great, I dont know alot about other cams and Heads, but my builder
pointed me in the direction of TEA Heads and Futral Cam. My LS1 put down 444 RWHP.

The LS2 intake is a real turd. The LS6 (C5) intake in stock form out flows the LS2 intake hands down...this is based on dyno testing comparisions with published results. It is hard to believe your statement about the LS2 ported intake vs a stock 90mm FAST...please show some data confirming your position. There is a good reason why the LS2 intake sells for around $280.00...poor engineering.

the problem isn't getting 450 rwhp,it is the 420 rwtq that will be pretty hard to get. the big cams make decent tq but peak is usually around 5200 or so. the smaller cams average around 4800. something like a 228/232 on xer of xfi lobes with a good high velocity head like the afr 205 and around 8.7-8.8 dcr with the right boltons should get you to 450 rw with 400- 410 rwtq.

With good aftermarket casting heads you can make 450/420 with a daily driveable cam. Ported stockers can go 450+, but from what I've seen the torque is usually <400 and it seems to take a larger cam to get there. Of course there are exceptions and some dynos are more generous than others.
