Default Idle quality of a 110 LSA cam....

I have a 227/227 .599"/.599" cam ground on a 110 LSA. The idle is erratic, to say the least. Does anyone have a cam ground on a 110 LSA? What do you idle at? How much tuning did it take to get it to idle right? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Sounds right to me. I'd have the idle set to at least 1000 rpm if that bad boy was in my engine.

i have a 112 in my car with 224/.581 cam and it idles great at the stock level, 650 i believe...its all in the tuning...i might get a 110 though, jsut to bring the powerband down, so i dont have to turn crazy rpm's

I have a 111 LSA in mine.. The set screw has been bumped up for idle and it's untuned. I can't rev it as it's not broken in yet.. Right click and save as..

Have a cam 228/228 @.050 580/580 110 LSA and it idled perfectly...just a tiny bit of lump but really nice.

Nothing like having nice tight lobe angles, particularly when you are going for bigger cams. Reels in the power band in to a usable spread. Not great for emissions though

The secret is in the tuning and having sufficient RPM at idle. Mine was set to 1000-1100 rpm.

well looking at your sig unless your hiding it, you got stock bore and stock heads??
i am not sure that the lsa is your prob... yeh that is going to give you a real lope but i think i would look at your lift... 599! wow i thought 581 was kinda maxing it out on a stock bore/head motor...
could be wronge but thats my.02

The G5X2s run more lift then I do. But the lift won't affect the idle.

since you have a standard split it should idle fine. IF you had a big split like 10 degrees than you would get some ground rattlin loap.

I'm afraid idle quality is a bit subjective; anything 220 degrees duration and up with less than 116 degees LSA will not idle like the stock cam did. And the way the PCM is tunned will have a big bearing on it also. You could probably even make the stock cam lope if you slow down the idle enough. The only way you will ever know is to try the cam in questiou in YOUR car with YOUR tuning.

well that depends, i know someone that has a 220 on a 114 and you cant even hear it. i also knew someone with a 224/114 with stocl maifolds and it was noticable until he said somthing.....but then again it depends alot on the idle speed and header/catback setup.
