Default My custom rear mount!

About a month ago i decided to build a rearmount turbo on my 2001 Trans am, cause i had a to4b "H" trim with 84 A/R exhaust, i know baby turbo, but i decided to build it anyway. Later i can upgrade the turbo, but it has a stand alone recirculating oil system, and an sx wastegate cause i did this on a budget. I still have to rig something for the pcv, change the plugs, tighty some things up along with paint the charge pipe, and most importantly get it tuned! Oh and sorry for the tinfoil I am trying not to melt my oil lines, haha. But for now i did some proliminary testing and it makes 5psi of boost and pulls like a MOTHER!!!, so the turbo can push enough air, it just spools slower than i would like. I just wanted to post some pics of my progress and get your thoughts on my work!

So it's not tuned for the turbo?? Bad idea!!! Also change those gears out.. It will like you much more in the spooling area.. Looks good but don't make the mistake that many have before you..

What sized pipe did you use running the length of the car?
I am very suprised to see so much of it. Running it below a subframe connector or something?
I have a Formula and see way less pipe. If I had the side skirts like a TA I think I would see virtually zero. Not a slam, just curious. Otherwise looks like you did a very nice job. Clean and tidy.

is there any better way you can tuck under the piping more going up front?? Cant you run it and tuck it up more on the passenger side, along the exhaust???...everything looks good besides that....also, I would personally weld most the piping that you can together....every coupler is a possible boost leak in the future.

I used 2.25 inch pipeing, and yeah it prolly could be higher if i got the custom bend to rut it on the inside of the frame brace, but i decided to just run a 90 degree elbo further up so all the pipe was the same level. Also at a higher angle you see nothin at all!

first of all thanks. Idk, i did some calculations to determine what the cheapest setup would be, and what i am running ended up being the cheapest, you could prolly run it much better with custom bendind, but i wasn't willing to spend the money, and once its painted black it should look much better!

ahh ok so that explains it, you just didn't tuck it up.

your car but a couple bucks in bends, a chop saw and a welder and you could really make a difference.

you did the rest so clean it seems a shame to have that just hanging out there like that.

you may change your mind a few driveways/speedbumps from now

do the pumps have an internal regulator? DO they run at full speed, or do you have a controller? I did a self contained system and it was a lot off work and money!

The pumps have a inturnal pressure sensors that lets it run at optimum psi for the liquids viscousity, so they dont work too hard and over heat. but they flow a constant 1GPM
