Sell it. I think that car had 112 or 116hp. less than a honda civic. Pull the engine and put an LS1 in it.

The 2.8 was rated at 125hp didn't matter if it was TBI or MPI. I've had three of them. I will tell you this though. Take the fan off and put an e-fan on that makes a big difference. Next, k&n open element, header's, full exhaust, and Crane Cams makes a cam for it that sits on a 112 lsa (and yes it will lope on a cold start until it warms up then it's not as noticeable when it warms up). It won't be a track star by any means, but I guarantee you, you can drive that SOB any way you want and still get about 26mpg. I drove the **** outta mine and I averaged that.

TPI (5.0 IROC) was only 196. The 5.7 TPI IROC was 210 or 220.

Swap it out for a 3.8 turbo V6 out of a Buick. Or keep it stock until you can afford a motor swap or a car with a real motor in it.

Hey don't diss on the 350 TPI. It made 245 hp 345 torque and got about 25 mpg. Not a bad engine for the 80's. As for your v6 definately do some of the upgrades mentioned above for the v6. When you get the money you can either do an engine swap or get a car with more power.

The Iroc never made 245hp. You are thinking about the 91/92 Z28.

The 89 5.7 IROCs made 240HP. The 90 5.7 IROC made it to 245HP.
