Default 58 mm Throttle body?

I'm thinking about getting a 58 mm throttle body, as I have headers and cat back and feel that getting more air in to match the efficiency I have after combustion would be good.

Anyone have any advice or think it's not worth it?

What about brands? I've seen them from 160 to over 330 on fleabay.

Thanks for the help.

a cam gets more air into the engine, not the throttle body. also you'd have to bore your intake manifold to actually get the full effect of the 58mm. I say, save for a heads and cam swap and get a 52mm at that time. and stop wasting your time.

A 58mm TB is basically pointless. And so is a 52mm until you port the heads and cam it. If you do want a bigger TB, though, just have the stock one ported to 52mm. It'd be cheaper than buying a new one.

I agree with the others, if the heads, intake, cam and headders can not flow the 58mm then why get a part that you can not fully use, cause it WILL slow you down if you do not do it right

A dry flow TB is not like a carb, too big does not cause troubles.

I find it amazing nobody who feels qualified to comment has told you how to know whether it will help, real easy, but maybe I will just drop that hint and if you guys look into it the research will help you.

A 58mm is overkill at your level, hell I would not even bother with a 52mm yet, far better things to spend $150+ on at this point.

Valvesprings come to mind.

I just went 6.68 (1/8 th) with a stock throttle body and a bad transmission N/A. I would suggest that your money would be better spent on something else.

Well, heads might not be in the forecast but I m can swing a cam. No time to do the damn installs anymore though- that makes it add up if I have to pay someone.
