im startin 2 hate this ws6
first time we put the transmission back in it slid in perfectly. Now that we have taken it out we've tryed to put it back in 4 times, with no luck, losin my patiente with this car... the alignment looks perfect, ended up using the tool just to move it seeing as the tool doesnt align worth a %(%*. and still no luck... alignment looks perfect, usually bout 2 hours on each instal attempt... (just tryin 2 get the tranny in alone) what could be wrong? input shaft bent? hasnt been driven since the first install went perfectly.. after 2nd try went from a pilot bearing to a pilot bushing, bushing slid on input shaft perfectly prior to installing it, and is flawless... im stumped, anyone around northern part of south carolina done a tranny install and could maybe lend me a hand?

Man your having the same problem I had when I put my engine in. I had did the clutch like 4 month prior to new engine and trans slid in perfect. When I put the clutch on the new engine it took me like 2 days to get the trans to finally slide in. I had to loosen the pressure plate and realign it to get it to go in.

Looks like I'm goin back to the pilot bearing GM offers, I was thinking of selling my car and getting a vette. But after further thought, ive decided against it... Ordering a new tool and pilot bearing from one of the GM sponsers for the site forget their name, and goin at it yet again this coming weekend..

why are you wanting to go back to a pilot bearing? The kevlar bushing is supposed to be badass. How far is the trans from fully seating? I definately agree on cracking the slave bleeder.

the tranny is like an inch or an inch & a half, its not going into the pilot bushing or something... goes through the clutch disk perfectly but then its like hittin a brick wal, the bushing slid right over the input shaft and spun fine b4 we installed, dont think it shrunk or anything.,.... lol,, but the alignment tool was a BITCH to get into the bushing, had to use soap to get it in and out and still u gotta slam it in there? is the input shaft tip a little smaller than the alignment tools tip maybe? (hope) otherwise ima need like a damn sledge to drive the tranny inside the bushing

Sounds to me like you have a bad bushing. I've done quite a few clutches and never had an issue with the alignment tool fitting in the pilot bushing. Even though the bushing fit nicely before you installed it, the press fit into the crank probably closed it down too much (in other words, the OD was too large). If you have the tools to measure the bore of the pilot bushing, I would double check it to the diameter of the input shaft.

im having the same damn problem everything is aligned the pilot bearing was the one that was in it from previous clutch still pretty new anyways it only likes about a inch or so to go in i have cracked the bleeder screw i cant figure this out it seems the throwout bearing is riding the clutch fingers that far out is that normal.
