ive got a 97 formula firebird an im lookin to improve the handling but cant afford to lose any ground clearance. is there such a spring out there? reason bein where i live the roads suck an im running dual 3inch exhaust so im pushin it now.

how many miles you got?if you have alot i would say find a REAL low mile sotck set....if other people agree let me now i have a 10k mile stock set

If you don't want the ride height to change you would be best to keep the factory springs and upgrade the shocks. That way handling can improve along with ride quality but your height would be the same.

in addition to the shocks (Koni highly recommended here, from personal experience), there's also the option of getting some good lowering springs (like Strano's springs, which i have & love) and getting some spacers made to raise it back up to the same height as stock....that way, you get the extra spring rate that the springs offer, without the loss in ride height.

but if it's just one or the other, you really can't go wrong with a set of Koni shocks.

i was thinkin about useing the stock springs but mine have over 130,000 miles on them. are there any difference in stock springs for ls1 an lt1 as my car is a lt1 car.

is something wrong with the stockers ride height. If not then the springs are fine...get shocks.

huh? what does the mileage on the springs matter? they're not like shocks, they don't really wear out.....

oh well i didnt really know that. figured they would wear out as shocks do.

Technically, springs can wear out. Their height and rate can decrease and they can even fail (break). Its just that it takes many miles and many years for that to happen. Unfortunately, I don't know the magic number. My guess is that its alot more than 130K miles (although failure can happen at any time regardless of miles).

Here's a link you might also want to check out. http://www.angelfire.com/my/fastcar/suspension.html Another option is the 1LE springs, same ride height but a bit stiffer. Like everyone else said; the springs won't matter without good shocks to control them.

so where could i get a set of the 1LE springs from? how about the tokico struts an shocks, they any good? i can get a good deal on the front tokico struts ($50 for both fronts brand new) just gotta find the shocks for the back.
