your probubly good.....

hitting the rev limiter does not "usually" cause problems because GM sets it at least 200 RPM under where valve float starts to get bad.....

Although it is all case specific, it shouldnt be hurt any. Hell, I laid on my RL two weeks ago...sounded like a virgin import-drag racer doing miss shift for about 4seconds...of course I cringed while trying to get my foot off the throttle (kinda got it stuck-oops).

Heh, check them pushrods, ls1's arent exactly known for strong pushrods. Id check them just to be on the safe side.

The rev limiter is there for the sole purpose of protecting your engine from damage. Don't worry about it.....

Tommy

PS If you misshift, then worry....

Or launching at the dragstrip.

If you tap it a little it's not a big deal.

If you do a 3 to 2 missshift and the motor is tapping afterwards you might have some bent pushrods.

well its a M6 and what happened was once in awhile ill wind it out to far and hit the limiter but i immediately back off the throttle when that happens, its not like i "bounce" off it several times in a row, just once and i back right out of it, its just that ive hit it a few times of different occasions. -Ja

The rev limit is set really on the safe side. Don't worry. You haven't hurt a thing. I've been on the rev limiter hundreds...maybe thousands, actually ...of times and I've never hurt anything by doing so.

As long as this was not a mechanical overrev, you should be fine. Listen for strange noises in the near future and take appropriate action. I wouldn't worry too much right now.

I've barely tapped the rev limiter a time or two and we just pulled off the valve covers and I do have a bent pushrod or two. Nothing too serious, maybe a couple of mm or so but I am changing them all out. I definitely had the tapping noise though. If you hear anything like that, it's easy enough to pull the covers off to at least check the pushrods. You might even want to do it to be on the safe side.

I had mine set at 6400 and have hit it many times. Pulled it apart last week and all the push rod were fine.
