Thumbs up

The 40 or 35 is the sidewall height percentage of tire width.

The 40 is 40% of your tire width which is 275 mm. So 275 x .40 = 110mm or 4.33", your sidewall height for the front. For the rear 35 is 35% of your tire width which is 315 mm. So 315 x .35 = 110.5mm or 4.34"
To convert mm to inches: example, 275mm divide by 25.4 = 10.82"

99BlueZ, good job man. Glad people know how to convert the numbers! The Aspect Ratio is a major player in choosing your tires. I had a guy argue with me once because he wanted taller tires in the back, so he wanted 245/45R17's in the rear and 275/40R17's in the back, he arugued till he was blue in the face that the 45 aspect meant it was taller than the 275/40 rubber..even argues when I brough the tires out for him to compare...LoL that guy made my day!!!
