With the price of gas the way it is, I would pick one of these fine vendors to fix your 4L60E according to your future plans for the motor. I'm in the 670HP range and get decent mileage for what it is and the lower rpm's let the motor live longer. I can't speak for the vendors pricing. Make the call. Good luck.

At the power level you are running right now there is no reason to not consider the 4L60E. It is a formidable unit in the right hands!

But, if you wish to move forward with the swap.... do not run the 7ooR4, that is going backwards. That tranny is the early analog version of the 4L60E.

And of course the 3 speeds are a good option, but just like was stated above fuel economy is significantly affected.

Feel free to give me a call, we build all of those units you mentioned and can help you to make the right choice... whichever direction you choose to go!

Good Luck.

with the power levels your at...I really would reccomend a 350...not a 400. I currently have a 400...and its too much tranny. I'm considering downgrading to a 350. Mods are your basic heads/cam/sprayed combo.

There are trans builders out there that have complete knowledge of the 4L60E's weak areas. There are people here in the site running this trans into the 9's. If your car is just for the track, then a 350/400 trans will work for you. I'll stick w/the 4L60E for now, myself.

At your power level I would not consider any of those, The 700r4 as mentioned is just the 4L60E without the PCM to control it. And any money you save with a swap to a 350 or 400 would be quickly eaten in excess fuel consumption since you would likey loose around 30 percent. If I were you I would get a well built 4l60e in reality it would be your cheapest and best option,

If you're going built 4L60, talk to Finish Line Trans. If you want a th350/400, I can get you the number of a local guy that builds sick transmissions(he doesn't touch OD trans' though).
