What convinced you to buy your car?
I was working at a nursing home when I was 17 as a waiter, I drove there in my 1980 301 powered firebird formula, everyone loved the car. A year into working there they hired a new chef who owned a 383 powered lt4 Camaro ss, jet black with the quad center mount tips. We instantly became good friends, and he gave me rides home after my cars tranny took a trip to heaven. That was the scariest F*^ing car i'd ever been in. He was from the bordering town and used to go to the packy for me. After cruising with him, I knew I had to own an Lt1.
He single handedly convinced me that the dukes of hazard wasn't merely a show but a driving style, more than once he ran it from cops, and even went through a fence at the local 99 pub. Insane! That's my story, anxious to hear yours

My sister has had her Z for about 6-7 years and when my old car started crapping out, I drove her car and it was love at first WOT. I then found mine for sale for 5650 from an older couple by the beach, bone stock to the filter with 106,xxx on the clock. Took it home and loved every second of it. About a month later or so I spun it into a curb at 50+ and tweaked the frame and rear axle. So another 1200 later Good to go, now I know what not to do in corners. So here I am now about two years later and finally getting some mods going, but its running like poop and failed smog.

Always loved the LT1 T/A look. The LS1 is too bulky. The Exhaust sound sealed the deal. LSxs sound like crap. I'd trade an 11 second LS1 for a 14 second LT1 anyday... Oh and a firebird thanks to knight rider and my parents owning one in 84 too.

One of my best friends was into Firebirds when we were in highschool and the more and more we hung out, the more and more I got into them. When it came time to looking for a new car before my senior year, found a 3.8L 96' Firebird (had a Trans Am front bumper) for sale and bought it... but after about half a year I started to get real disappointed in its performance, but I was stuck with the car financially.
4 1/2 years later that car got wrecked in a snow storm on a my way to work (last December) and had been paid off for a while. My insurance company junked the car and gave me $4300 for it. Searched around for a bit (was on a sort of time limit cause I was now paying for a rental car) and ended find my 2000 Trans Am for about $9,000 last January.

I was driving around in a 83 z28, it was fast but really banged up since the day I bought it, A/C worked like garbage due to a busted air box, no cruise control, leaky t tops, and it was a auto. I couldn't stand the automatic anymore, so one day I see a ad on base for a 94 z28, 6 speed. I looked at the car, besides a K&N replacement filter it was all stock, one owner car (a officer in his late 30's, car was well taken care of), working A/C which was my first car with good A/C, vital in central valley CA where I was stationed, around 107k for mileage.
Car was a steal at $4,500, this was in 2004.

I bought my 94z a few years ago out of an impound yard in Florida. Apparently, the dude who owned it before was running dope from Miami to Tampa and got into a police chase. He blew the engine and thats how it ended up in the impound yard, right across the street from the prison. The engine was blown but the block was still good so I bought it for a grand. I like to think that when I was trailering that car out that yard, the dude was watching it leave from across the street. By the way, I'm still searching every nook and cranny of that car for the bag of money I hope he left.

I was going to get an ls1 car, but I saw this green formula and thought it looked pretty cool. Its a manual and I didnt know how to drive it so my dad took it for a test drive with me in the passenger seat. The dealer guy didn't go with us. Dad pulls onto the highway and just mashes it, going side to side, chirping the shifts and everything, pulled up to around 80 or so. THen he goes on a back road and does some monster burnout. After that, I was sold on the car. I bought it the next day

When I was younger my mom decided she wanted to buy one last sports car before she hit 50, so she bought a 1995 Firebird M5 3.4. I loved it! When I turned 18 I got that car, modded it, and drove it until I was 19, and saw an old friend selling his 97 TA for $4700 in Sept 07. It was (and still is) the best looking LT1 around here that I've seen.

I was just looking for a first car. I wanted something with style and I wanted it fast. After 2 years of looking I was just driving down a road close to my house and saw a formula for 2900. The paint looked like crap and the exhaust leaked at the headers. After some work it now looks very good and preforms just as well.
it went from looking like this:
