Default strut tower bar

i got a used one for free from a friend. it came off a 96 trans am and is going onto my 94 trans am but it wont fit. either the chassis sagged over time and brought the top of the struts together and wont let the bracket slip over the studs. its about 1/4" off. i have already tried jacking it up from the k member. it helped a little. any ideas?

On the passenger side also losen the two bolts that screw into the spring mounts(most of the way out), in addition to the 2 nuts on the passenger side you have removed.
Now slowly jack up the car until the STB mount holes will slide over the bolts.

This is what you have to do. In fact, in order for me to get my STB in or out, I have to completely remove the two hex headed bolts, and push on the tire, with the car jacked up, until the two studs are almost down into the wheel well. At that point, I can slip it into place. (I'm using a 3 point brace, which makes it a little trickier...)

Maybe I will put my STB bar back on my car.... despite that your car is a bit older and I'm not sure exactly why the reason is that it won't go on. It definitely can't hurt. Seems like the STB plays the same role as the subframe connecters do with the 4th gen.
