Default exaust testing on old carb motor

i been thinking to my self if i upgraded to the magnaflow 3 inch instead of getting the magnaflow 2.5 inch would there be much of a power gain if any? i know the 3 inch will be louder but im out for power not trying to make the car louder...... the bigger 3 inch pipe is hard to fit and can rub in areas plus is over $130 more than the 2.5 kit so i only want to get the 3 inch if its really gonna be worth it or if its really gonna sound alot better and not just louder..... the motor will be a 388 stroker dart ported heads, ported vic jr and solid roller......any thoughts or opinions? jake

Well, you will be exchanging some more TQ for HP wuith the bigger exhaust but it depends on if you want the higher output, you gonna stay at lower or higher revs for longer?

If it is a stalled car to 3000 or better, screw the little TQ difference below 3000, you wont miss it.
