Default GM part number....What is this?????

I've got a 2002 LQ9 wiring harness. There's a part with part number is 12450016. It's obviously damaged.

Generally a picture would help a lot...

rockauto's search says it's an ACDelco D2263C park/neutral switch.

That's been replaced by this "GM PART # 24229422 CATEGORY: Transmission Saftey/Start Warning" I got this from SDPC, but I use Rockauto a lot too.

So what does it do? Is this where I wire in a neutral safety switch?

12450016 is replaced by the 24229422 like stated above. It is the Park/Neutral Position and Backup Lamp Switch. It does what is says, it sends a signal to the PCM as to which gear the vehicle is in so you can start the engine and also sends a signal to the backup lamps.

Is this the part you are looking at? I used the escalade wiring to operate my back up lights. There is a wire on the fuse block. When the part in the picture is in reverse, it supplies voltage to my back up lights. The linkage on my 81 that connects from the trans to the steering column wouldn't fit with my transmission. I unhooked the linkage and left the steering column in the park position. I ran the wires for the reverse lights to the escalade fuse block. This part will be your new nuetral start switch.

That's the part!
I got the wiring diagram and now I know where to hook up my reverse lights.
I'm going with a manual trans, and there's no provision for a neutral safety switch on my 68, so I'll just be bypassing that.
