Default will it float the valves on 5 to 8psi

ok im getting ready here soon to install my sts kit on my car and i hear people saying that they are having valve float issues well im ganna run 5 psi DD and 7 to 8 occasionally... will this setup float the valves the car in pretty much stock besides some minor bolt ons and no internal work... and if i do need valve spring will the LS6 ones work or should i got with the 918's... thanks for the info

id go big and do it once,go dual springs and never have to worry

so pretty much got it and dont worry about it because it will happen... what push rods should i use?

it WILL float the valves. I'd suggest going to a spring stronger than 918's since I floated on the 918's before.

what strong get the 918's i know the 921 but thats a pretty penny

harden pushrods 7.4's get them from thunder or any sponser. i run patroit dual springs i think i paid 250 for them. a

My personal preference would be the PAC 1518 springs shimmed to 145# seat pressure.

since im there i mind as well replace the push rods hell patriot has them for 100 bucks

Speed Inc...no, the shims would come from comp cams, im sure they can get them too.

Texas Speed PRC dual springs ..the ones that are rated at .660 lift should work well. Those or patriot golds are both similar caliber springs.

thanks for all the info i think im ganna go with the patriots but here is my biggest issue how do you do it with the motor in the car the first 2 on each side look easy the last 2 look horrific

this is what I used, well, I made my own but basically the same tool https://ls1tech.com/forums/tools-fabrication/317675-tim-s-valve-spring-tool-now-available.html. It's simple and cheap, you can do all the springs fairly easy with it. Do you have an air compressor to charge the cylinder so the valves don't drop?

yeah i got the compressor and the fitting to go into the plug hole to keep the valves up

back 2 are hard to do but it can be done,just get a buddy to help out just dont drop a lock.....

Contact the guy that makes them in that thread, I'm sure he can set you up with one. And the two rear ones on each side are cake with that tool.

My buddy was able to pick up 50rwhp by changing springs and pushrods. It was floating the valves and the spring change put an immediate end to that. Stock LS1 with just the springs, auto trans, 12-bolt rear - 500/500rwhp/rwtq on a little under 9psi. STS kit with a big turbo.
