Default First time running the SS

well I took the SS to the drag strip...this was the first time I have ever launched a standard car in my life, everything was a new experience to me and i have only been driving standard now for about 2 weeks...

first run, traction control off....launched at 3 grand (not sure what i was thinking) and spun like a bastard, hooked and bogged down. Shifted to 2nd, tires broke loose again then hooked....shifted to 3rd and the tires spun broke loose a little bit again....I got a 2.3 60', and ran a 13.9 @ 103 (shitty)

My buddy who can drive anything jumped in my car and ran it....he heated up the tires a little and launched from a idle. He got a 2.3 60' also, and spun like a bastard all of first and have of second...he got a 13.6 @ 105.6 mph...after this, i parked the car

These tires suck...they hook up better on the street then they did at the track. They are rikon raptors...275/40zr/17

my SES light has been on for about a week now. Code PO420. Bad catylic converter. My exhaust tips were polished up nice and clean before i started running...after the runs they were pitch black...this is telling me that the SES code is making my car run way to rich.

the kid who owned my car before me went a best of 13.3 on street tires, back when the car was bone stock a few years ago....my car is no longer stock

ported/polished throttle body, stage 2 clutch, intake and exhaust and BMR lower control arms. Im ordering MAC long tube headers this weekend and I have a Spohn adjustable torque arm to put on.....im also borrowing a buddys drag radials for next weekends track runs....If i can put the power to the ground, i should be able to get a 12 seconed slip, should I not??

there was a guy there with a M6 01 SS with just intake, exhaust and drag radials running constant 12.9's-13.0's all night.

Get that SES light checked and try a much less agressive launch..

2200 rpm and riding the clutch out until you are moving works best for me.

well I just installed my Spohn adjustable torque arm today and holy **** did I notice a difference....I got a little chirp out of first gear today from a 5mph roll...she hooked and hauled ***

Im also borrowing my buddys drag radials for next weeks track time....between the torque arm, and the drag radials im hoping to get atleast low 13's, maybe a high 12 slip....and i will clear the code before I run.
