Default disappointed with results....

car is heads/cam/intake, 9 inch, full suspension.

first off Im a track newbie and pretty much suck...

my best run prior to all the suspension and gears was a 12.65 @ 110. w/ a 1.95 60 foot.

tonight at the 8th i couldn't run better then a 8.3 @ 88mph.

for my mods im thinking the trap is pretty low, obviously my launch sucked w/ a 2.0 60 foot.

I either bog, or spin, im on nitto 555R's. leaving at no more than 1500rpm

the qa1's were set at 3 up front and 5 in the rear. pinion angle is -2

now the weak side is im on the stock clutch still yes I know stupid. but its all I got till tuesday, then the ls7 and built t-56 go in.

leaving the track I noticed it was slipping (no surprise) when I swap to the ls7 will I notice a gain in mph?

any tips on how to launch w/ nitto's and the ls7?

track newbie needs some help guys.

Chad

With my old head and cam I ran a 7.40@96 but I had a built 4l60e. No matter what we did I couldn't hook with the Nittos. I went to MT DRs I ran 22psi in them. If memory serves me right I had to run less in the Nittos. Right now my pinion angle is -2 also not sure on what my QA1s are set at. I will see if I can get Greg to look before we head to the track Saturday night.

what size tire you running? If you are leaving real hard the Nittos will hold you back. We have one of our LT1 cars going low 1.5 60Fts and mid/low 7s in the 1/8 wheels up on 275/40-17 M/T DRs at 20psi

im going to change to some 26x10 ET streets here pretty soon, but will my trap go up that much, im thinking theres something amiss with the tune, im going to check the spark plugs this week as well.

your heading up to moroso tom night correct? pm or post up the shock settings please!

twofast- running 275/40/17 nitto DR's....not trying to leave hard at all...basically leaving from a stop light i'll bog real hard, and if i try to slip the clutch at all spin city.

maybe I just can't drive

edit: ls1queen how much power was the car making for the 96mph trap?

im thinking I should be somwhere around that ballpark trapspeed....

Your trap is definately low, but it sounds like it is probably b/c of the stock clutch..swap everything in, put some real tires on it, and launch that beast..with the added mph(without the slip) and added launch you should run what you would expect no problem..

Car should be much quicker, get some slicks or M/T drs and combined with a clutch that will hold the power, you'll feel the difference!

I wouldn't say he's pushing the limits of Nittos. I yanked a 1.78 out of mine (same 275/40/17) when the car was only trapped a 111, but with your current power, I'd definitely upgrade to those 26 x 10.5 MTs you mentioned. Funny thing, I just mounted the same tires on my 16" rims Saturday for the track rental coming up this Friday. I, too, am H/C, although very mild (400/367), but I'll let you know how they hold up. Watch out for a post from me late Friday night or Saturday.

If I got a 1.78 out of the Nittos, I'm hoping for a consistent 1.6 (depending on my driving), from the MTs. Plus I'm trapping a good 5mph more now that I'm tuned.

I would also get rid of that stock clutch and go with something like a Textralia if you track it a lot. I've heard a lot issues with the LS7s glazing over at the track on hard launches, which is exactly what you need to get the times you're looking for.

Very cool. Some people have great luck with them, so for that deal, no sense in trying it out if you don't mind doing the work!

I'll post up Friday night or Saturday for sure.

yeah, swapping to a built t-56 at the same time so we shall see how the ls7 does. motor passes should be fine.

good luck at the track.
